About me
My journey with clay began in childhood, and since then, I have never been able to tear myself away from it. To this day, my curiosity compels me to experiment with clay, constantly seeking new uses and innovative ways of working with this versatile material. My experimentation influences the way I shape the clay, resulting in unique surfaces that reflect this ongoing exploration.
I am fascinated by how ceramics can integrate into our domestic culture in unconventional ways. Moving beyond traditional household ceramics, I craft pieces that defy conventional boundaries. These often take the form of furniture and lighting objects. Pushing the boundaries of what ceramics can be.
I believe that an object can be more than just functional; it can also tell a story and have a narrative. My goal is to create pieces that live and exist alongside us, not merely as tools but as integral parts of our spaces. In today’s housing culture, there is a growing need for objects that speak to us and enrich our environment with their stories. These objects deserve a prominent place, akin to a work of art, as they often blur the line between art and function. I revel in dancing on this thin edge, constantly questioning the nature of the object.
Clay is a material that demands respect. Ceramicists have been striving to tame it for thousands of years. It requires not only years of study but also a deep respect for its unique properties. Each type of clay is different, and understanding its preferences is crucial before one can start creating. My work is often preceded by a period of experimentation and exploration, during which I learn about the clay’s characteristics. This knowledge is then incorporated into the design process, giving birth to the final piece.
My previous works have been inspired by experimentation and play, exploring the relationship between my hand and the clay, and the transformative dance with fire. The interaction of different materials—glass, clay, porcelain, and wood—is another guiding principle in my creations.
I aim to appeal to those who seek something unique and unusual in their environment, who are open to different uses of materials and sensitive to the stories behind objects. My works, through their creation process, inherently possess a story. I often use alternative firing techniques, sometimes inspired by ancient methods, ensuring that each object has a message and speaks to its user.
